Detailed progress of app download from Mac App Store

Recently I came across a problem in my new mac book, which I had been ignoring for some time.
When you download an app from the app store, it add a download icon with a progress bar in it. This progress bar moves smoothly for small size files. A bit slow for medium sized app downloads. But for big downloads like XCODE it is nearly invisible.

And until you leave it for downloading for couple of hours in a broad band connection, you will not find any significant progress in the progress bar on the downloading icon.

After exploring much, I came to know that actually there is a place where you can get the complete detailed status of the downloading app.

Click on the App Store Icon and then click on the Purchases tab. Here you will see a detailed download progress of the app.

Here you will be able to see the following informations :-

  • Total Size of the app to be downloaded
  • Total MB already downloaded
  • Time Remaining to complete the download
